I finished watching the last episode of The Last Dance. The documentary on Netflix highlights Michael Jordan’s career and the Chicago Bulls. If you haven’t watched it, watch it! Even if you aren’t into sports or basketball. It is by far one of the best documentaries series I have ever watched.
There are lessons and takeaways from every episode in the series that I could write easily write about. His dedication, beliefs and work ethic is truly inspiring and shows why he was the best and still regarded as one of the best ever in the game.
He highlights his mentality and thinking when he says “Why would I think about missing a shot I haven’t taken?”
Michael was so focused on winning and being the best, that he wouldn’t allow himself to think about things that he had no control over.
Thinking about missing a shot was pointless and achieved nothing.
So, how often are you allowing yourself to think about something that you haven’t even done yet?
You have to be careful thinking about something that you haven’t even tried yet. If you do this, this is when you can start to create self-doubt within yourself.
If you start thinking about missing, not completing, failing or whatever it may be, those thoughts can consume you and put you off your game.
