I’ve been on a quest to find a system or tool that would allow me to manage aspects of my life better.
I’m someone that loves spreadsheets and systems to automate or simplify my life so I can focus on the bigger things that bring in money or help to create the lifestyle that I want.
There’s been a few things that I’ve wanted to do for a while and have tried at times to do in spreadsheets or existing systems that I use. But they have never quite felt right.
Well, all of that has changed now.
I’ve started using Airtable and can already see a lot of potential for this tool. I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner. I’ve know about it for a while and have heard a lot people talk about it, but I just never looked into it because I thought I already had enough tools.
The easiest way to describe Airtable is to say that it’s like a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and the old Microsoft Access database program had a baby. It’s easy to use like a spreadsheet but gives more functionality like a database system.
I’m still learning it, but I’ve already got started on creating a few “Bases” for systems that I want. “Bases” what what Airtable call their “spreadsheets” essentially.
I’ll be creating Bases to manage the books I’m reading, tracking my goals, managing a personal CRM, supplements and whatever else I can think of over time.
Although I’d consider myself at a fairly advanced level with spreadsheets, what I like about Airtable is that it’s so much quicker to get things done without having to worry about all the formulas for lookups and doing basic stuff when working with multiple sheets.
I’m sure I’ll be writing more about Airtable and the systems I’m developing with it. I may even share some of the systems I create as templates.
If you’re looking for ways to simplify your life or be able to track things better, I encourage you to check out Airtable and see if it fits in with what you need.
