Overcomplicating web design

The tendency is to overcomplicate websites.

This is easily done by focusing too much on the visual side of things and not enough on the viewer experience side of things.

Sure, the website might look prettier and fancier with the animations, the large section dividers, the scrolling effects etc., but that’s not what viewers are going to a website for.

Viewers go to a website with a purpose. They generally want to find out something about your brand and they want to easily find the information that they seek.

The best thing you can do is to make sure that information is easy to find.

Secondly, once they have found the information they want, it should be easy for them to read and to see what to do next if they want to know more or to enquire/buy from you.
