The best routine

I’m currently in the process of revamping my daily routines. It’s something I like to do a few times a year just to make sure I’m getting the most out of them and that they are geared towards my current goals.

As part of this revamping process, sometimes I’ll look around online to see what other’s are doing and whether there are any new techniques or ideas I haven’t heard about that I think could work for me.

There are no shortage of routines online … morning routines, evening routines, success routines etc. And then there are all the variations of these routines.

Everyone has an opinion on what you should be doing for a routine. But at the end of the day, you need to do what works best for you. If you’re looking around to get some ideas, your routine should be a combination of what you see.

As an example, a lot of people talk about not using technology in a morning routine for journalling or planning out your day. But for me, I want it all on technology so that I can access it anywhere, especially if I’m travelling. I don’t want to be carrying around a paper notebook for both security and privacy reasons.

Another big thing that people go on about is not checking emails or social media until you’ve focused on your key goals for the day. I’ve tried this, but it doesn’t always work for me. If anything, it creates more anxiety and stress because in the back of my mind I’m wondering if there is anything that needs my attention and is going to escalate if I don’t get on top of it.

But that’s just me. I know what does and doesn’t work for me. So, my routines are going to be based on what is best for me, even if they don’t follow the recommendations of all the experts or all the research out there.
