I start every day with a cold shower.
It’s not because I’m crazy or like torturing myself on those cold winter mornings with a cold water shower.
There are actually a lot of benefits to regularly practicing this technique.
It can provide a lot of long-lasting changes to your body’s immune system, blood circulation, digestive systems and it can also help with weight loss because it boosts your metabolism.
I’ve also read that there are studies that show regular cold water showers can help to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety and other medical conditions.
While those benefits are good, I do it because it jump starts my morning in a way that a warm shower doesn’t.
It really wakes me up and gets my blood flowing. And it’s is a good way to get the mind working first thing in the morning.
Sometimes, I’ll start with a warm shower and then at the end I’ll turn it over to cold for a couple of minutes.
We are put off from jumping into a cold shower because of our minds. We associate pain with doing it.
All I do is tell myself it’s not as bad as I think it’s going to be and remind myself of how good I’m going to feel after doing it. Then I jump in and do my thing.
Try it out for a week and see if it makes a difference.
