Sitting in silence is good for some things, but my mind will wander off too easily. Setting the mood allows me to get focused and get more work done.
I normally do this by having some music play in the background of where I’m working or through my headphones.
I play a wide variety of music. From rap, hip hop and RnB, through to blues, classical, movie soundtracks, and even a bit of pop. It’s not uncommon for me to have a song on repeat for an hour or two either.
To change things up, sometimes I’ll play a movie instead. A movie that I have already seen a number of times works best.
Having this ambient noise in the background works for me. But I know it doesn’t work for everyone.
While studying the routines of other successful people, it has surprised me how many have similar practices though.
