I remember the time when my big group of companies went into liquidation. After all the paperwork and formalities were sorted out, I was essentially fired from my CEO position by the liquidator and kicked out of my nice executive office.
My response surprised him a little.
I had a laugh about the situation with him and I showed him something he had just inherited as part of taking over my office. A fully-stocked bar and fridge that was all concealed within the cabinetry work.
I wished him well in drinking it all and was then basically escorted off the premises for one of the last times.
Having a laugh was one of my first reactions to losing my multi-million dollar group of companies.
I still laugh to this day when I think about it how it all played out.
Sometimes, you just have to laugh.
When something doesn’t happen.
When unexpected things happen.
When it feels like everything is going wrong.
When you lose control of what is going on around you.
You could get angry. You could get upset. You could get frustrated.
But none of that is going to change what has already happened.
This is where sometimes you have no other option but to just laugh it off and deal with whatever it is you have to.
It’s when you can do this that you’ll learn more from what has happened and become stronger as a person.
