It doesn’t matter how busy we are or how much we have going on.
Sometimes we just need to switch off.
Just the thought of this though is enough to send some people into a panic attack. I should know, I used to be one of them.
I would worry that if I switched off, my businesses would melt down.
Or, I would miss out on that one important call or email, even though I wasn’t actually waiting for anything in particular.
But over time, as I have become smarter with the way I manage my life and businesses, I have learnt to switch off more.
I might switch off for an hour while I go to the gym.
Or, I might switch off for a couple of hours during the week to just relax and have some me time.
One thing I try to do more often these days is to switch off and go away for the weekend.
Here’s a surprising fact; out of all these times I have switched off, never once has a business melted down or an opportunity been missed.
We have so much fear about being disconnected in such a connected world that we don’t think it is possible.
I’m here to tell you it is possible though.
I have had some of my best business, life and motivational ideas when I’ve switched off. This is when my mind is free to think about bigger things rather than the smaller day to day things.
Challenge yourself to overcome your fear of being disconnected and try switching off for a day or two.
